Scent sticks are used in Obedience Class 3. During a competition, 5–7 unmarked scent sticks and one marked scent stick are used. The unmarked sticks carry the scent of another person (the competition director) and the marked stick carries the handler’s scent.
Upon command, the dog has 30 seconds to locate the stick with the handler’s scent and retrieve it for the handler.
The scent stick can be made of different types of wood, but not all at the same time.
The stick measures 2 x 2 x 10 cm according to FCI rules
